U.S. Congressman Roy Blunt, 7th District, will be the keynote luncheon speaker on Friday, Jan. 29, at the Missouri Dairy Forum, held at the Resort at Port Arrowhead at Lake Ozark.
Congressman Blunt was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1997. The people of southwest Missouri have sent Blunt to Washington to represent them seven times. He is a recognized leader on energy issues and led the fight for more American-made energy in 2008. Blunt is currently chairs the GOP Health Care Solutions Group.
The Forum kicks off at 9:30 a.m. Friday, with Amber Wilson of SES Inc. speaking on "Animal Agriculture Emergency Planning and Response." Next, Lewis Anderson of Calf-Tel by Hample Corporation will discuss "How to Best Utilize Our Resources in Raising Replacement Heifers." Todd Bilby of Texas A&M University concludes the morning program with "Considerations for Improving Your Resynchronization Program." Intervet Schering Plough Animal Health sponsors the session.
Immediately following Friday's luncheon, Dr. Roger Schaletti of Alltech will cover "Bounce Back-Nutrition Strategies to Recover Dairy Performance."
Anderson will speak again on "Tips for Building a Successful Dairy Heifer Contracting Business" during the Sho-Mo Dairy Heifer Growers Association annual meeting at 2:15 p.m. followed by MHA committee meetings at 4:30 p.m. and MGBA committee meetings at 5 p.m. Both groups will have board meetings later in the evening.
On Saturday morning, Jan. 30, the Forum resumes with concurrent sessions including the annual meetings of MGBA, MBSA, MHA and a MJCC board meeting. The Saturday Awards Luncheon features the crowning of the Missouri Holstein Princess and Little Miss, along with a fun auction of items furnished by the Missouri Holstein Districts.
The Forum trade show contains 18 allied industry exhibits with the latest developments in the dairy industry of interest to Missouri dairy producers and heifer raisers.
